I have no particular horse in this race, but I'm curious about this statement of yours. If a vendor is not falsely claiming that their products are USA (or wherever, really) made, then what's the issue? (For the record, I don't think you're wrong about the pricing - the only NATO strap I've ever bought cost me something like $12 IIRC, and has given me no trouble, so paying significantly more than that seems a touch odd to me.)

Hey until @vcdgrips and @Totem Polar either kiss and make up or take it to PMs I'm gonna just spam watch pictures

Both ends of the dive watch spectrum here.

Vostoks look great on NATOs. Good thing too, because their bracelets are flaming hot garbage. Also, putting a Soviet-designed watch on a NATO strap is funny to me.

Here's a cheapo Seiko Recraft. It looks good on a NATO. It should, because it comes on one:

I got this one because I had been reading articles about vintage Heuer Autavias and I really wanted a 70s-looking chrono but I didn't want to pay $6,000.

I have this one on a tan rally strap now and it looks really good on that too.

I had to decide between using this year's rathole money to order a U50 or a Hawk Deadlock knife. It was a hard choice, but I went with the Deadlock because I don't think they will be making them by hand much longer, and they are in very limited runs.

Meanwhile my Lum-Tec Combat B Bronze is still working fine.

Still kicking myself that I missed out on that model; it's hella cool.
    I'm a "7" compared to most gun-guys, which means I'm a "3" on P-F.

Emacs. Wow, that takes me back to my UNIX days.

It's probably just because I learned emacs first, which made using vi feel like trying to speak an unfamiliar foreign language, but I disagree with you intensely on that. Of course, I haven't used either in a decade+, and I very much preferred xemacs to emacs, but that's minor compared to the difference to vi.
