The Speaker of the General Assembly, Kirk Cox. I don't know him, but he is a R and is supposed to be a conservative. Interestingly, Rs controls the General Assembly by one seat, and that seat was decided by a draw after a dead heat tie for one of the seats. Every vote counts.
I predict that none of these three guys will resign. This is an election year for the General Assembly, and as I mentioned above, Rs hold the slimmest of majority. It was expected that the Ds would take the General Assembly this Fall, and since they already have a majority in the Senate, they would have an across-the-board majority. I predict that although none of these guys will resign, the negative publicity will stem the advancing tide of Ds, and maybe the Rs will hold onto the General Assembly and maybe win back a few seats.
You might've heard about the recent abortion bill in VA. That was actually sponsored by my rep to the General Assembly. This is her first term, and she took over a seat that had been held by a R since 1993. I wonder if the negative publicity from her bill will hurt her in November. However, I don't know if anyone will run against her. I read that Rand Paul offered to bankroll any campaign to run against her this year. Her opponent in 2017 was terrible.
