Thread: Obligatory Wristwatch Thread

While in London I went to Harrods and got added to the list for these. Wife didn’t realize the price of the yellow gold and green so I’m going to remove myself from it, but stay on the other.

Apologies if this should be it's own thread, but I got carried away clicking on the Hodinkee link and stumbled upon this piece of Cold War history...

It's good to remember stories and people like this.

Just started the 8-10 month wait for Schaffhaussen to build mine. Any recommendations for a matching leather strap? Factory is an additional $230 with no buckle. I plan on putting the one it comes with in the storage case for posterity as it’ll be my daily. Preference is for a deployant clasp.

PF does it to me again. I've had the Marathon Anthracite GSAR in and out of the cart for the last two days. Just getting ready to hit the rack and when I went to look at it again...they dropped the sale price. Between that and a 10% discount for handing over my throwaway email, I caved. One of these is on the way:

Marathon also offers a 10% discount for military, active duty and veterans, first responders, medical types, etc., which is nice.

A GSAR has been my everyday watch for the past nearly a decade. I’ve been very impressed with both its durability and accuracy. Although it took a direct hit from one of our Patrol K9 (who was in muzzle) a few years back and it jacked up the bezel, but 100s of falls 10s of thousands of rounds and a crap ton of fights didn’t faze it. They were very easy to work with on the repair.

That's great to hear. I got the shipping notice this morning already and I'm pretty excited.

Picked this up at Heathrow yesterday. Went the entire trip without buying a watch because no one had anything and my wife goes hey there’s a Watches of Switzerland. They just got their shipment in….
