After a few hours hiking this past week, and several more hours ahead of me, I’m back on the hunt for a new backpack. Basic criteria...
- Under 2 lbs empty
- External water bottle sleeve(s)
- Small, externally accessible, pouch (sunglasses, phone, meds)
- At least some amount of internal compartmentalization (preferably without having to add additional parts)
- Good airflow in the back (new requirement from this week)
- No external mole or other tactical indicators
- detachable/storable waist belt (if it has one at all)

You didn't mention capacity, but anticipating multi-use. Mystery Ranch Scree immediately comes to mind. 32L, packs a little bigger and carries a little smaller depending on you. Just a little over 2lb, but you could make that up. Non-mil look, several color options available. Great bag.

If @rob_s ever finds *the* bag, we should all get one, because it will be awesome.
I'm a "7" compared to most gun-guys, which means I'm a "3" on P-F.
Looks like there's also a 25L Coulee

this thing doesn't tik all the boxes, but it does check off a lot of them. I wish the front panel was slightly more divided up, and there's no sunglasses pocket but there is a (perhaps bit too large) quick access pocket in the very front with a vertical zipper.
