While I think it’s douchey to do what that seller is doing, $2379 is still cheaper than an old Python in the same condition by roughly 50%.
Well, at least Colt has managed to put out a new revolver for $1499 list that some people are willing to pay at least $1800 for.
How many people here would have bet this would come true 10 years back?
I would have called it a "themodynamic miracle," to quote Dr. Mathatthan.
Prices will be nuts for a bit, I'm sure.

So what I'm thinking is that a new 686 is 55% of the MSRP of a new Python, the 686 may still have a better trigger and whether or not the Python will stay in time under hard use. For speedloaders, I imagine that shooters will be largely limited to HKS.
The Python's front sight is interchangeable and it doesn't have the hole of excrement in the side plate.
I still want one.

If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.
@Stephanie B - Safariland makes Comp IIs for the (old) Python. I've got half a dozen for my Offical Police. I have no idea whether they'd work with the new version.
The python has always been meh... for me.
I would really jump with joy it S&W made no lock K, L, and N frames with one piece barrels and classic aesthetics. I see almost no practical purpose today for many revolvers, but they are so nice to look at and fun to shoot.
