I've read through all 10 pages and since I didn't see (not here or I just missed it) it, here is a restatement of what the Democratic party does and why. First, the leadership and most of the party doesn't give a shit about racism. Considering their history, they can't. It is simply a weapon. They don't care about women, or rape. It is a tool, a weapon. For them, the ends always justify the means. They will support a Democrat who fucks babies to death in the street IF he does more "good" for them than harm. If they see their power eroding due to their support, they'll turn on him faster than Ramsey Bolton's dogs (Game of Thrones reference there). So stop wasting your time with useless discussion and argument about whether blackface was racist "then" vs. racist "now". Whether that's him in the photo or not. Truth is not important in the outcome because this isn't about truth, racism, or anything about politics. They are concerned about votes and whether this will be a problem for them in the 2020 elections. For them, keeping or losing the Virginia Governor is a secondary issue. A Democrat Lt. Governor replaces him. If the Lt. Governor has to resign because of his own issues, both offices will be filled by other Democrats. Their priority is whether keeping him in office now costs them votes in the national election in 2020, whether people have long enough memories, whether the Republicans have enough guts to use it for campaigning, etc.

We allied with Josef Stalin in WWII because we needed that alliance against Germany. Most of the Democratic party has no moral convictions and they will support other Democrats who committed acts that they would have said justified the death penalty if the perpetrator was a Republican. So the leadership isn't concerned about the majority of their party, only the less Socialist fringe and the independent center.

Ok, time to get off the soap box. When you try to predict what they will do, look at what the perceptions are and what benefits or harms the party. The political version of "follow the money."

I must admit that I was enthralled by Thriller at the age of 7 when it was released. I, along with the rest of my friends, flocked to Belks to buy that red Michael Jackson jacket and white glove. Fortunately, my career is safe because there was no need back then to darken our faces...we were already darker than Jackson...despite being of Scotch-Irish decent.

I ditched Jackson a year later when I realized how much more pussy I’d get with a Miami Vice themed wardrobe.

I'm watching the DC morning news and it sounds like the black community is not happy with what is going on. They see two white rich guys getting away with over racism and a black man, next in line to be governor, not getting due process.

And they are not blaming Republicans, they are pointing their fingers at democrats.

We could isolate Russia totally from the world and maybe they could apply for membership after 2000 years.

Yeah, it does seem like it's coming off as an own- goal. The opposition party also seems to be (wisely) holding their tongues, here.

VA Gov. Northam and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

I think in the coming week you will see a misdirection campaign by the Democratic Spin machine (by which I include all the current and likely future Presidential Candidates, as well as the common taters in the national progressive-media.).

Everyone and his dog has denounced Gov. Northam, who gamely clings on despite massive calls for his departure. I don't see him leaving anytime soon. Lt. Gov. Fairfaix, now with a second accuser, has stated that the "interactions" he had with both of these women were "consensual".

My guess is all this ruckus in Virginia will get the briefest possible mention, as instead, we should be focusing on ORANGE MAN BAD! stories, which of course should BE OBVIOUS TO ANYONE WITH A PULSE that we need that asshole out of the White House IMMEDIATELY, IF NOT SOONER but more than that of course he is a SYMPTOM OF A RIGGED SYSTEM that is part of a BIGGER PICTURE OF CORRUPTION AND WHITE PRIVILEGE in our country THAT WE HAVE TO TAKE BACK FROM THE ELITES.

Personally I think the Fairfax story line is going to be more troubling than Northam. Northam can wear an "I'm just an old white Virginian racist" sign around his neck until he is replaced. The National D organization has distanced themselves enough, I reckon.

Fairfax is a harder pill to swallow. A young, forward thinking Progressive, rising through the ranks of the Virginia elite (ok, he went to Duke, but still) with a bright future is actually a sexual predator? All those endless hours of Virtue Signaling at the Kavanaugh hearings by the D’s are going to make a stark contrast to the press conferences held by these two women after (if) Impeachment proceedings start in Virginia for Mr. Fairfax tomorrow.

    How amusing.

I'm going to go to the store today and refill on Popcorn.

This is a pretty thoughtful, mature piece from Bret Stephens.

Ever told — or laughed at — a bigoted joke? I have, and I cringe today at what I once found funny. Ever used one of the more common ethnic or sexist slurs — “gypped,” for instance, or “bitch” — or dropped the f-word as it commonly refers to gay people? I’ve been guilty of this too, to my shame. Have ugly generalizations or snap judgments based on ethnic stereotypes perambulated through your mind, even if they didn’t fall out of your mouth? Guilty again.

I admit to all of this not as a form of moral — or immoral — exhibitionism, but because I think it’s true of the overwhelming majority of people irrespective of their race or gender. (If you don’t agree, audit yourself twice.) Few of us are proud of these lapses. Many of us are trying to be considerably more mindful about them. But most of us don’t rip ourselves to pieces over them, either.

That’s because we believe that our worst moments and dumbest utterances shouldn’t define us. That our youthful behavior is more of a reflection of what is around us than a representation of what’s inside. That we deserve to be judged by the decency of our intentions and the totality of our deeds. That we are entitled to a presumption of innocence, a measure of forgiveness, a sense for our times, and multiple opportunities for redemption.

At the same time, that this f*cker Northam went along with trying to tar Gillespie as racist leaves me with less-than-zero sympathy for him and I am very much enjoying his distress.

The news sites in northern Virginia have similar stories that Northam now wants spend the the rest of his term "to heal that pain of racial inequality."

So, because he screwed up when he was young, that's going to be the focus for the state? That sounds very selfish. By not resigning, he's putting himself before service, and because he screwed up, the entire state pays his penance. I've been trying real hard lately not to paint with a broad brush, but this also seems to follow the democrats pattern that the laws do not apply to them, which is perhaps my biggest pet peeve in life.

Anyone who tried to use that as their defense was accused of being tone deaf in addition to being racist. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, reasonableness is now entering the discussion.

I don't disagree at all. This piece suggests how we *should* be inclined to approach these things across the board. Which, needless to say, is not what happens these days, where these things are weaponized or not based on power politics.

Edit to add that Northam's refusal to resign can only be good for the Rs, in that he will serve as a shield against the usual and casual accusations of racism against Trump and R candidates, and the Ds are now stuck with Dr. "Kill 'em even after they're born if you like but speak in quiet voices so as to not to make the subject of the discussion uncomfortable."

I remarked somewhere else a few days that somebody must have told Northam the old joke about the Jewish position on abortion, which is that it's still a fetus until it graduates from medical school. But that apparently he doesn't get Jewish humor and seems to have taken it literally.
