    The complete story should have been permanently attached to the photo somehow. There were very few who knew the entire story - no one was interested.

    I grew up with the liberal myth about that photo being part of what my parents accept even now about the conflict. That, Thich Quang Durc, and "the terror of war" were just about all I knew about the war until I got 'hold of a world book encyclopedia in 1977.

    I knew from research in High School that the VC guy was in serious need of killing. I think that picture is why I always loved the S&W Bodyguard.
    Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

    I saw this on FB the other day as well, I had always figured dude doing the shooting was the bad guy, I was quite pleased to find out the opposite.
