    Minor Ameriglo Rust/Paint Issues

I've got Ameriglos on my entire stable of M&Ps. I recently noticed surface rust on the rears on the gun I predominately carry. It has become warmer here in the past week so I'm thinking my ridiculous amounts of sweat quickly overpowered the seemingly light finish of the rears. I would understand rust due to sweat but it seems like a week is a short amount of time. I've since cleaned and oiled the rears.

I also got around to cleaning the Proglo front on this particular carry gun. I used q tips and simple Hoppes gun oil. I noticed that the several q tips I used turned slightly orange. I can't tell that paint is coming off of the front sight by looking at it but paint is turning the q tips orange.

Anyone have experience one way or another? Thanks!

When I first running Ameriglos my rear (plain black Hacks) lightly rusted from sweat but after I claened them once and oiled (very light coat of Tw25) they have not done it again.

My Warrens stopped rusting after using Froglube on them.

I betcha it would have rusted if you came to AFHS the other weekend .....

FWIW: When I clean my guns, I coat my sights (Heinie) with Eezox.

I don't doubt it, JV. Wish I could have made it.

I have had better luck with FrogLube than Eezox on sights.

All of my Ameriglo sights rust. ALL OF THEM. My 10-8 sights do not. I use 10-8 sights now.
    Think for yourself. Question authority.

I wipe my carry 9c with ameriglo Hackathorns about once a month with Weapon Shield and have no rust.
Heinie sights are melonited since a few years back, but it's a good idea to use a quality lubricant wiped on weekly.

What's your preferred method for cleaning out the front painted circle?

Neither of them have paint around the tritium

I've always used q tips in the past with my lube of choice.

I *think* all of the Glocks are Melonited, but many others are not. My 2012 Sig sights are definitely not.
