That's a feature of the "structural racism" argument, not a bug.

Then there is the whole fact that the far left wants to tear down the system, so instead of fixing policies such as those that result in disparate sentencing outcomes, we need to defund the police, not hold anyone in jail for "minor" crimes such as attempted rape, etc. Because racism.

It can be used as a smoke screen to hide behind when the facts don't back up a given argument and dares the other person to challenge their incorrect viewpoint. For example, when the criminal gets shot because they started pulling a gun and someone argues why that is about as clear cut case of use of force, then they can try to frame that as supporting racism to the gullible.

The answer is pretty simple and has little to do with racism and everything to do with black culture.

Why do more blacks commit crimes? Because crime pays. Why do they need to result to crime? Because they are financially poorer.
Why do blacks get higher prison sentences? Because they have worse lawyers. Because they are finally poorer.

The white supremacist racist college professor Thomas Sowell explains blacks are poorer because of black culture. Black culture derides doing well in school and ridicules people who try hard at education. Black culture promotes violence. Black culture promotes victim mentality as opposed to taking control of your circumstances. Black culture promotes having children out of wedlock and abandoning your family.

The problem isn't skin color or genetics. The problem is culture.

Look at Jews, Mormons, and Asian Americans. They happen to be white (or at least not black), but that's not why they excel financially. It's because the culture of Jews and Mormons is to be hard-working, thrive at education, and promote complete families.

Skin color has nothing to do with it. It's all culture.

If you're white and live in inner city chicago and see a group of 4 teenage black boys walking towards your direction, the reason you cross the street isn't because you're racist of their skin color, it's because you are correctly and appropriately in fear of their culture.

After watching the early videos of him dropping the n-bomb at Kyle, my first impression was "small man syndrome" and that he may have picked on Kyle because he saw the kid as the weakest of the herd of gun toters and more easily intimidated. The history provided in that link reinforces this impression, FWIW.

Failure to correctly size-up proved fatal. The world is not diminished.
