    COVID-19 and the 2nd Amendment

Saw somewhere in the Corona virus threads that a city somewhere back east was looking at restricting firearms sales as part of the COVID emergency response. Just got an email from our indoor range. If presented accurately, looks like the idea is moving west:

    Dear Calibers Members and Guests,

The Albuquerque City Council is scheduled to consider an ordinance to allow the Mayor to prohibit all firearm transfers during the current COVID-19 outbreak. This will happen today at 5PM, behind closed doors and without public input. Using fear of current events, this ordinance would give the Mayor the ability to cite “Emergency Powers” as an excuse to undermine our firearms freedoms and ability to defend ourselves. This was placed on the calendar with less than two days’ notice and constituents will not be allowed to attend the hearing. It is vital to your Second Amendment rights that you contact members of the Albuquerque City Council and strongly urge them to oppose this unnecessary power grab.

It must make you proud as hell in a de Blasio-ish sorta way to have leadership so damned woke.

Oh, it also includes changes to remove “manmade” from the ordinance and replace it with “human-caused” because ABQ is woke AF.

With a simple virus the government has restricted all of our rights. It is a test run of martial law, who will follow blindly and do as they are told. Kind of like hurricane Katrina was a test run of confiscating firearms.

Social Distancing aka Quarantine is a time tested strategy against infectious disease.

During the 1918/1919 Spanish Flu pandemic they were shooting people in the street for refusing to wear masks in public.

The good news is we ain’t there yet and if we play it smart (I.e. social distancing) we won’t get there. In the mean time, lighten up Francis.

The government hasn't restricted anything here. You want a gun? Go buy one. Want to drive around? Have at it. Businesses have made their own changes, or not. School districts chosen to close down. What the state/county/local governments have done is asked people to practice social distancing and calm the fuck down. The federal government hasn't done a damn thing.

And likely won't. States are going to deal with this as they see fit. If gun/ammo sales becomes a problem it will only be for the unprepared, like running out TP or beans.

I'm mostly annoyed that my CCW permit expires in august and my local SO is not processing renewals for the time being.

Still have 5 months but hopefully they change to a mail-in renewal system like my home state of CT.

I have seen you reference this several times, but have been unable to search up a source thus far. Do you possibly have one because that is an amazing bit of history?
