No hate, just episode 3 was boring. Meteor man is stupid - tell us who he is and move on. I hate the great long reveals so common in shows.

I've always wondered why in the fantasy novels their civilizations stay at Middle Ages tech level for thousands and thousands of years. The Elves in this one had fireworks. So why aren't the Dwarves cranking out muskets by then. They had the metal working tech?

Also, everyone wears bathrobes. Get pants!

My guess is Meteor man is Gandalf or another wizard. Not sure the books ever clarified what the wizards are or where they came from.

Speculation is one of the blue wizards. Lots of fill-in-the-blank with those two. Can't be Gandalf.

    They did.

Every time somebody says “meteor man” I want to write a Smashmouth All Star parody song.

“But the meteor man begs to differ, crashed in a hole by the Harfoot critters…”

    Hey now, you’re the Maiar,
    Get your robes on
    Go gray
    Hey how, serve the Valar,
    Wander middle earth
    In the third age

    They did.

Thank you. That makes the most sense. I hadn't heard of them before but I may not have read all of the books long ago or picked up on that nugget either.

Is it better than Peasant Porn, I mean GOT?

If you’re talking about Rings of Power then It’s certainly more family friendly and palatable. Plenty of boring talking and politicking in GOT as well, it was just well written in the earlier seasons.

House of the Dragon is not better than GOT and is managing to push the vulgarity to the point that I think I’m out (after this last episode). Started out ok but has unsettled me too much this last episode.

I’ve had a good year for shows though. Got Reacher and The Terminal list. Looks like I might be out of shows though.

I highly recommend the animated series Arcane on Netflix if you're searching for a show that doesn't suck.

I’m enjoying LOTR ROP for the most part. So far the character development is plodding but nothing actually sucks. I usually figure episode 1 of any new series might be rough and we’re only on episode 3 so there’s plenty of time left to either screw it up or build a winner.

I’m glad to hear someone else say it. I wasn’t really paying attention to movies when they came out, and then tried watching them on streaming at home and found myself somewhat horrified and couldn’t even follow the story (despite having read the source material). Tried, and succeeded, in getting through it all a few years later and still didn’t like it. And I loved the “original” LOTR trilogy films.

This is such an odd thing in film and tv lately. Pandering, I guess. Apparently Ariel is black now too. But imagine the new and cry if they let a white girlfriend play Pocahontas?
