ATF is basically claiming that the braces on the HB (as well as the Sugar Weasel and Mini-Fix) are "designed and intended to be fired from the shoulder"
Which is quite ominous since they where designed by SB tactical. Could have a huge domino effect.

Q response to ATF via representation.

References all our fears, random change of course by an ATF field office instantly making law abiding citizens felons.

    snip
Part of me wonders if legal concerns about SB Tactical's designs is what led Magpul to design a brace more in line with Kak's Shockwave design and not something more similar to SB or Tailhook's wrap around the arm style?

No doubt the design (and QD placement) were quite deliberate. Tangentially related, is Duane Liptak still on the NRA board?

I am not a lawyer or anything resembling a legal professional - but my semi-wild-ass-guess (SWAG) is that the rubber wraparound with a strap makes a lot more sense to laymen as an arm brace than some random flat piece of plastic with holes in it. At least if put in front of a jury full of ambivalent regular folks that don't know shit about guns, that's what I'd expect.

But let's also be honest - we all knew this was coming sooner or later.

Damn it. That sure seems general enough that it might apply to practically any pistol using an SBA3 brace.
My posts only represent my personal opinion and do not necessarily reflect the opinions or official policies of any employer, past or present. Obvious spelling errors are likely the result of an iPhone keyboard.

I was just thinking about that... the Sugar Weasel uses an SBA3 instead of the proprietary HB brace.

So the letter attests to an actual examination of a physical specimen. So how did Q get these into the wild legally? Q's letter states that they have. Is this a case of ATF just watching, waiting and then crying foul after the fact and on purpose?
