Such an excellent point delivered very well.

Cecil, thank you very much for taking the time to create and post that video.

When I am in a dressier situation and cannot carry on the belt, I will carry both on pocket shields.

You are more than welcome, and I appreciate that.

Am I going to see you at dinner this weekend?

Indeed you shall. Just let me know when and where.

I might even have another present for you that makes sloshing noises.

#2) Wrist angle in completely different. To get any penetration with the PD blade, you have to have it essentially aligned with the forearm as in a punching manner. If you tried to use a PD at the angle I do in the video with the CP, you would have zero strength to get in up and working in, and even if you did, the pressure on your wrist would cause it to collapse almost right away, even for someone with a strong grip and wrists. The space available would not allow it.

#3) to draw and deploy the PD would require a good deal more movement and elbow articulation, requiring more space and time to even get it into play. Very possible, but not the same at all.

None of this is to say the PD is no good. It is just a factual statement of important differences between the two knives. And this comes from someone who a) regularly carries a PD and loves it, and b) someone who spent a couple of years trying to set up a PD in a way that I would not have to use a CP. I was convinced I was smarter than Craig in this situation, and the CP offended the Filipino Martial Art nerd that was still living inside my head. I did not adopt the CP until a bit later when I wan unable to make the PD or another standard knife (a Bud Nealy Escort) work as well as the CP.
    Makes sense.

    Makes a ton of sense.

You got me thinking about velcroing my TDI upside down inside my external vest carrier. Have the top edge of the (inverted)hilt right at the vest line.

I am a Deputy so I have a light brown shirt. When I wore blue, I carried my J-frame AIWB(Werner style) and it was invisible.

Do you carry vertically or horizontally on a belt and why?

Any thoughts on the Colonel style Knife? And "finger hole" knives generally?

They would seem secure during in fight access.

Degloving or worse might be an issue. Concern to me, but I defer to the folks who know and practice this art.

There really isn’t anything like the CP for its intended environment. I wasn’t a believer until I tried the idea for myself in FoF (and not just with Craig). I’m no HtH guru, and the CP is one thing that I can always access and make work, even when I’m getting my ass handed to me otherwise. Coming from a layperson perspective, in terms of grappling, I’m sold. FWIW.
