Anyway, it's ugly as hell and I want one.

Too bad it doesn't use Glock magazines.

Remington is coming out with a new straight wall cartridge, the .360 Buckhammer.

    https://www.outdoorlife.com/guns/360-buckhammer/?amp

Basically a .30-30 patent case, set up to be a straight wall cartridge using .358 bullets appropriate for a .35 Remington.

    .360 Buckhammer Specs
    Caliber: .358 in.
    Parent Case: .30/30
Available Loads: 180-grain and 200-grain Core-Lokt soft points
Muzzle Velocity (200 grain): 2217 fps
Muzzle Velocity (180 grain): 2350 fps
    Muzzle Energy (200 grain): 2,183 ft.-lb.
    Muzzle Energy (180 grain): 2,299 ft.-lb.
    Effective Range: 200 yards plus
    Case Length: 1.8 in.
    COL: 2.380 in.
    Max Case Pressure: 50,000 psi
    MSRP: $36.99/box of 20

I’ve wanted a .35 Rem lever gun, but the combination of difficulty finding a reasonably priced rifle snd sourcing brass/factory ammo made me pass.

At least the new .360 can use cheaper 158gr .357 bullets for reloading.
Makes for a lot cheaper practice ammo.
Eliminating the need to trim brass like the bottleneck .35 Remington makes it attractive.
Mind you a used Marlin in .35 is still a pretty inexpensive proposition.

Sure wish I had about 10 boxes of .35 Remington for same retail price...

I load 158 gr JSP or JHP in my .35 Whelen for a cheap, fun-to-shoot load. And for groundhogs.

I bet this means that we won't be seeing any factory .35 Remington ammo on the shelves in preference of this new hotness.

At least maybe components will be available possibly...

I’ve had an alerts set up for .35 Remington components for nearly 3 years now. Still crickets.

Is there any news from SHOT re: Ruger / Marlin levers? Particularly the 1894 series...in stainless.

Apparently the new Marlin 336 was at the SHOT industry range day. There was some pics on social media but I haven't seen any official notifications or postings.

A late, late JM 1894CSS which was a hot mess that cycled like it was full of gravel when it came out of the box-- serious burrs and chisel-like action going on inside. Now it functions okay, but it still ain't much to be proud of. Nonetheless...

It has an old-school (by today's standards) 25mm Ultra Dot mounted in low Burris Zee rings on a sawed-off XS Leverrail (with XS rear ghost ring) made just long enough to fully support the front ring.
I've been thinking about pulling the 2x EER scope from my .357 1894 and replacing it with a dot. I really haven't given much thought to which dot but your post reminded me I have an Ultra-Dot that's currently not dedicated to anything so I just mounted it and I'm intrigued.
