Thread: Available "acceptable" plate carriers

    Available "acceptable" plate carriers

Didn't want to muck up the armor guide thread with this. Not surprisingly, I'm having trouble finding the more recommended carriers actually in stock anywhere. Does anyone have suggestions for "acceptable until after the election or so" 10x12 plate carriers that are actually in stock?

I’ve been looking at the LA Police Gear carrier. Then again - I’m no expert.

Check out their "short lead time" products page, usually have some decent carriers and good certified plates/soft armor.

Buy properly sized plates first, then a carrier that fits them.

    1) Plate carriers are sized to the plates not to you.

    2) Some plates are too thick for some carriers

    3) Some plates are "in conjuction with" meaning they are only rated when backed by kevlar soft armor. If you are using just a plate carier you need plate shaped/sized kevlar backers to pur behind your ICW plates. ICW plates with backers can be too thick for certain carriers.

I should have specified I have two 10x12 Hesco L210 plates on the way. As a civilian, these plus a "passable" carrier should meet my needs for the near future.

I appreciate all the suggestions and info. I am new to armor.

I am a satisfied user of the Velocity Systems Scarab

They offer a variety of styles for a variety of uses. Perhaps the there is one here to suit your particular needs. Professional quality gear. When dealing with life sustaining equipment, quality matters.

I'd recommend something like this: https://www.optactical.com/fispslullipl.html

That style is usually cheaper than a carrier with more features, somewhat concealable, and helps resist the temptaion to LARP since it only holds plates.

Thats even lower profile that the version offered by VS. That carrier and something like a Unity Tactical clutch belt might be a great combination.
