Seems like just about everyday now there's a random shooting somewhere that involves multiple people. People just going about their everyday business being shot in grocery stores, parking lots, gas stations, you name it. I just saw this https://6abc.com/shooting-spree-near...dead/10533701/ and that's what my reaction was.

It's happening locally also and it gets about 10 minutes on the nat'l news and on to the next shooting.
In the P-F basket of deplorables.

Do you realize how many Mass Shootings we've had this month alone?

I think there's a hyper-sensitivity among the media right now. They smell blood in the water for both clicks and activism.

    Yes, yes, and yes!

This is the first time in quite a while that we've had an anti 2nd Amendment president, and both houses of Congress. And depending upon what we've also been reading May soon be the Supreme Court. They have to strike now while the iron is hot. It's possible, but I'm not holding my breath, that they may lose one house of Congress next year.

With that being said, I do have to wonder if we as a society aren't being meaner than we were in the past. It certainly feels like politics is that way. I am not under any illusion that politics was ever really truly civil, but not to the level of current anger towards your opponent these days.

There's also the whole Malcom Gladwell "slow-motion riot" aspect.

The clicks-driven "news" media doesn't care if the bloodshed is from a random shooting or violent political upheaval, nor do they care if they stir the outrage and ruin or even end lives- they just want to get paid.

CNN flat admitted that the races involved in a shooting play a role in their coverage.

It's easy to lose the facade of civility when a large portion of the population is wearing a mask. Not being able to be identified for repercussions for bad behavior tends to embolden folks to act in ways they normally wouldn't.

Plus, if anyone is taking their cues from the elected leadership in DC or elsewhere, threats of violence and the acts themselves seem to be the currency of the moment.

And a media making it's fortune's by selling outrage porn certainly doesn't help.

The media and big tech have realized just how much power they wield at the moment, and they are using it to full effect.

I think it’s that the media is now reporting theses smaller shootings in order to reinforce the narrative that the US is besought with an epidemic of gun violence. That in turn will garner support for the gun control legislation being discussed right now.

Of course I’m just a silly conspiracy nut.....
