Pretty much....Thanks to Dagga, you can see that the lower lug of the 3" USPS Speed Sixes have a subtly different curve at the front where it curves up to meet the muzzle. That's the easiest way to ID 'em vs. the standard 2.75" ones.

As far as I know (but who really knows with Ruger?...) the 3" USPS Speed Sixes were only available/produced in stainless steel.

    Best, Jon

Yep.....or Chuck Whitlock bought it out from under you...;-)

Like the 3" S&W K frames....there is just a real good balance point on them.

Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

Like these ? Two model 10s. 3 inch k-frames do hit the sweet spot. I like 2.5 Ks too. The adjustable sights work better for me

The 2M modifications of the 686 CS-1's seemed to have done the trick. Mine has over 20,000 rounds through it and triple that of dryfire and is still clicking along.

What are the grips on that 65? Love them. A similar pair might look good on my 13...

One of these is on my "need to acquire" list because I was under the impression they were issued to the SA's (I work for what Customs was morphed into). What were the the 1811's issued then?

    Thanks.

I'm still pissed about that 20 plus years later.
We can carry personally owned guns now so this issue has been somewhat self-corrected.

    Memories

Thanks for posting pictures of the CS-1. Brings back memories. I was hired on as a Customs Inspector in 1989 and was issued, trained, qualified at FLETC with the 3" version and Packy rubber grips. Customs had special ordered Strong Leather thumb break uniform holsters specifically for the 3" inch version. Issued duty load was Federal 110 JHP, plus P. But, once we returned to our home ports, we had the option of carry full .357 loads if you could qualify with it. Only a few of us opted to carry the magnum load and the firearms instructor kind of segregated us away from the other shooters so as not to "disturb" the others with our very LOUD magnum loads.

Ruger also made a 3 inch Speed Six for NYPD. It was a stainless .38 DAO spurless hammer. One of the best shooting wheel guns I have. Ruger also made a GP 100 for NYPD that was marked GPNY. They started making them when they stopped making the Six Series guns. They were 3 inch and 4 inch .38 frosted finish stainless. Spurless DAO full under lug.The 3 inch is one of the best pointing guns made.
