I think it is as likely to be a install foible on my side as anything - otherwise you guys would have already seen it.

I've spent enough time messing around with, and clearing, this issue that I no longer think it's that big of a deal. I have a technique for clearing it that is fast and easy. It only takes one hand and can be done while keeping the gun shouldered. It doesn't take appreciably longer to perform than a tap-rack with a pistol. If you guys are interested, I'll see if I can get a video (or a set of still photos) put together that shows how to do it.

I'd be interested. Like you, the more I mess with it the easier it gets to clear (it's almost like training and practice work!?), but I don't have it down to "shouldered tap/rack" levels. I'd be interested to see that for sure.

Not the best video, but hopefully it adequately demonstrates what I'm doing. I didn't demo it with the gun shouldered due the limitations of my video setup (point and shoot camera in video mode sitting on the armrest of a lawn chair), but you'll have to trust me that it works just the same in that position.

Tom, thanks for posting this. This thread had completely put me off the 1301, which I liked otherwise. Your fix makes this look like a non-issue. I might buy one now.
