My wife is freak'n genius.
Took a Dr. Schols heel pad and velcroed it to her holster.
She bought a couple extra so I trued it out. Very comfy!

What is the texture like with these? Can they be worn against the skin comfortably? I'm intrigued.
Its mostly smooth texture. The gel might get kind of sticky on skin.
I've used Mole Skin on my kydex IWB holsters for years. It's thin, self sticking, helps anchor the holster and adds comfort, at least for me.
Does the heel pad add much bulk?
Not really. Obviously it adds material but my holster is the JM custom Kydex with "extra tuck" and if anything it the added insert helps tuck the gun a little more. The amount of cushion is exponential when compared to moleskin, unless you are doing multiple layers.
More time is needed to tell but this should be a better alternative to regular foam as this shouldn't compress or wear out as easily.
I've been doing that for quite some time with varying pads and adding some moleskin over the pad. Stabilizes the holster and provides an added layer of comfort.
That is pretty dang awesome. Thanks for sharing, I love gear hacks like that!
Dammit that is amazing. No way a dude would come up with this.
Thanks to your wife.
