Pretty ugly stuff. Perhaps this is another thread, but I'd love to hear what some LEOs have to say about what the family could've done outside of their initial warnings. They were obviously concerned, but even the cops' welfare interview didn't turn up enough to stop this.

Without knowing you, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you are not a raging, self-entitled, misogynistic, douchebag. Which means that even though you were turned down, your ego didn't take an irreparable hit every time, because I'd guess you didn't invest your ego in non-quantifiable success.
The disturbing thing is - I've met kids like this, in the extreme. They are my students (university) today, for Chris' sakes. We're talking kids who have never been told "No", and are five or six rejections away from becoming predatory offenders of some type. I know these guys always existed, but there does seem to be an inordinately high number of them in existence today relative to the past. Higher than can be explained in the simplest way (higher population today than in the past).
