What about a .357 lever gun? Can't some of the .357 rifle stats approach 30/30 levels? Then you have the revolver/rifle match.

This was what I was going to suggest. There are some really cool old hammerless Savages and newer H&R / NEF single shots out there. I had one for a while that shot great. As they grow you could always ream one of the H&R / NEF to .30-30AI or .30-40 Krag for more performance.

I’ve a Miroku Winchester Model 94 Take Down Trails End in 30/30 that is surplus to my needs. NIB. The trigger pull is heavy, but otherwise it is outstanding. I have the parts to convert it to non-rebounding hammer as well.

    PM me if interested.

I appreciate it. Those are nicer than I was looking for.

FWIW, I had an NEF Handi-Rifle in .45-70 back in the '90's. An absolute tack driver. Consistently about 3/4 MOA, 100 yard, 5 shot groups, from prone or kneeling using the open sights that came on it. Sample of one, and a different era of manufacturing, yada. Still regret letting that one go.
