I'm really soured on silicone straps. Had too many straps and/or keepers split and crack. Although I suppose they are cheap enough to replace. I much prefer the solid stainless look.

@RevolverRob I had a Sinn 656; fantastic in every way, better looking in person than in pics, robust, and fits your criteria. Ranks up there with my minty S&W 12-3 snub so far as connoisseur kit that I should not have sold.

    Recommendations:

Field watch. Or, perhaps, bezel-less dive watch. Or maybe Alpinist-style watch.
Case: Titanium or stainless steel, black or gray matte finish. 36-38mm in diameter (smaller is better). Objective thickness of 10mm or less, but no more than 12mm thick.
Face: Matte. Geometric hour markers (i.e. no Arabic or Roman numerals). No day/date, barring a perpetual calendar complication and/or a color-matched date wheel at 4:30 or otherwise placed such that it does not interfere with the sizing and placement of the indices. Bright lume, C3 SuperLuminova or similar (or better); lume dial acceptable with non-lumed or contrast lumed hands and indices.
    Sapphire crystal.
10ATM/100m of water resistance or better.
Cost: Objective of $500 or less, but no more than $1,000.

The closest I've found so far is the Vaer C3 Tactical Field Solar. Would be perfect if it had a titanium case and geometric hour markers. If it had geometric markers instead of the arabic numerals, I would call it close enough. Even as it is, it is far enough below my objective price and fulfills enough other criteria (plus the American assembly) that I'm tempted.

    Thanks!

I have the C5 Solar and have been very pleased.

Also, check Google for discount codes. I was able to find 25% off through Vaer (healthcare, one time use) but don’t recall where I found it. Simply had to provide my work email and confirm to receive the discount. Probably applies to additional career fields.

Not very bright but does lack ambition
I just came across this Seiko solar watch, I was surprised to see it has a sapphire crystal. Too busy for me, but interesting.

In the Sinn 556 category, another option is the Dekla tactical watch which is well under $1k.

If you are not set on atomic, here is a solar Seiko chronometer with sapphire.

Traska has a number of offerings within your specs on the microbrand side.

Problem is that they are being recognized as a watch that punches way above its weight ( like many microbrands in the sub 1k space) such that they often have to be pre ordered.

This watch is slightly thicker at 12.7mm but otherwise "hits" your specs and is hands down one of my favorites in the sub 750 space-Unimatic

Christopher Ward has made the jump from microbrand 5 yr warranty at sub 1000 USD with a Swiss engine.

Another option is the Mido Ocean Star Titanium, which is $724 from Jomashop. VCDgrips put me onto this, and so far I have been thrilled. Lightweight, great bracelet with adjustment on the fly, very accurate. Using my Atomic Casio ProTek as a reference, it still shows within a second after watching it closely for a week. You lose the manufacturer's warranty with Jona, but since this watch is mainstream and the warranty is only two years, I thought it was a reasonable trade off for what you save buying it.

PS: comparing my Sinn 105 to my Atomic Casio, it is 38 seconds slow since Monday and the Mido is within ONE second.
    I really like that Mido.
