    Not sure what happened here…..

    Accidental reply….

But I will say that I am often amazed at how the most toxic of companies in terms of culture, are so hell bent on trying to be the most woke….

The United Airlines “good leads the way” campaign is a prime example.

If you treat your employees well, the word will get out without the need to advertise.

Corporate Wokeness isn't all that different than some sketchy auto repair shop putting a big Christian fish logo on their sign; the 'Climate Action Now!" sticker on the back of a large SUV; or the accused facing multiple life sentences having a full conversion to Christianity.

I'm surprised we don't have a Christian airline with a big Jesus on the vertical stabilizer like the Eskimo on the Alaska aircraft. I hired a contractor to do a shower install and his email address on his card was religious in nature. He didn't give me any discounts. He actually went way over time and cost estimate.

When I dealt with people who proclaimed how godly and religious they were, I looked for snakes and evidence of wrongdoing. My dad once said that people who think they are talking to G_d can justify anything they want. I've found out over time that he was dead on. (And that was well before it was revealed that a certain large religious group was skilled at concealing their ordained child molesters.)

    Can't do that anymore.
When I was a kid the local airport only had roll up to the airplane steps and you could go up on the roof and watch the planes through pay binoculars.

On the subject of godliness and talking the talk, I had a friend who used to run the online credit card processing wing of the local US bank. He told me that the worst credit—and therefore the highest rates they had to charge—were for religious institutions and businesses. The bookstore with Jesus on the sign would be paying 6.5 percent, and ButtHutt.com (actual online porn name at the time) would be paying something like 2.5.

The most devout Christian woman I know was/is a swinger. Her husband, my ex BIL, didn't ever try to conceal the fact they both enjoyed a break in the routine. They've been married for at least 35 years.

Tangentially related story from my childhood.

My father was a presbyterian minister. One Sunday we were driving home after spending a week at the beach. We are on a small two-lane Highway that was winding and very difficult to pass on because of the traffic. People wouldn't let you in if you did pull out to pass. Finally, after screaming at several cars for not helping out, one car slowed down and allowed us to get into the lane. After my father thanked them he then said; I bet they're the only people who didn't go to church today in this entire line of cars.

I have photos somewhere from the observation deck at O'Hare.

Reminds me of the old joke about why the Pope only flew on TWA....
