I've heard Dr. Attia on Rogan's podcast. He's an investor in https://mauinuivenison.com/, which harvests axis deer on Maui and sells the meat.
Interesting guy. I especially like that his views evolve. Too many folks get into one mindset and stay there.

I know plenty of retired LE that fit that bill, military too for that matter. Unfortunately it’s all too common in those occupations.
I’ve never been a big drinker, but tied a few on in my younger years. About four years ago I decided to drop some weight and went all in, cut out every none essential calorie. Of course that meant no alcohol what so ever, lost all the weight I wanted too and then some.
And besides tasting at various venues with my wife occasionally I haven’t drank since. I tell people it’s not that I stopped drinking, I just chose not to now.
I haven't had any alcohol since October 1st last year. Guess it wasn't long before I thought beer might be holding me back at staying in shape.
I wanted to improve my squat, and was planning to do a weightlifting plan involving squatting Monday - Friday for the month. After the month, I just kind of didn't drink. Not really intentionally avoiding it, but opting for water or sweet tea instead. Here we are almost 7 months later and I haven't had any alcohol. Honestly, it's only required a conscious choice not to drink a few times. I hate to break a streak I guess. I haven't notice any large performance goals, or any improvement in fatigue, mood, or anything. I actually haven't noticed much change at all. If anything I'm a bit less relaxed, but that has to do with other factors in life I think. It's basically been a big nothing-burger. It hasn't added to my life, or subtracted from it to cut out the beer.
I won't be a teetotaler forever. When my son starts getting a bit older, and starts to get curious about alcohol I'll start again. So I can show him what responsible drinking looks like, and so he can figure it out for himself in an environment that won't end up with a negative outcome. I'll probably stop drinking again after I think he has a handle on it. Then again, he's 7 so I imagine I have 8 or 9 years before then.
