Side note, glad to see this thread is a live and well! (I started something!!!)
I have been lifting for roughly a month now after my finger amputation. I guess I never realized how much you rely on all your fingers (duh) for a steady grip and full strength. Losing that portion of my pinky means it no longer wraps around a bar, cable attachment, or db so I have effectively lost 1/5 of my grip, especially on pull exercises. This has taken sometime for me to adjust to but slowly but surely I am learning to lift and again and start building strength.
Doing a modified 5x5 right now.
