Belushi had a real gift for gentle parody that paid respectful homage to the original. Along with his Joe Cocker bit, I'm thinking of his portrayal of Beethoven morphing into Ray Charles - which was musically inspired in its own right - and even his take on Mifune in the "samurai deli" skit.
