In certain countries, and certain industries (and certain ancient civilizations) M is used for thousands. Others use it for millions. This writer almost certainly meant 500,000 per transit.
The coalition seems to be falling apart before it even started. At best, this is an embarrassing misstatement by SECDEF, at worst, several of our allies refused to even commit and/or bailed within literal days.

I don't have a huge interest to spend the time digging into the foreign statements that Reuters is citing but, assuming they're true, this is seems to be another indicator of where we stand on the world stage. Bottom line, the official US answer to this problem after almost three weeks is some rando foreign officers, a Brit ship, and a Greek ship.
Like I said, just a show to avoid doing anything. There is a point that other nations affected should stand up and fight too! But why, wait for us to eventually to shoot up a few camels.
