    For you Clancy fans....

    He passed last night....

Celebrated author Tom Clancy, who became famous for popular works like “Hunt for Red October” and “Patriot Games,” died on Tuesday night, according to multiple media reports. He was 66.

Clancy died after a brief illness at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Born in Baltimore, Md., Clancy first made his name in ‘80s for his suspenseful espionage and military novels. Some of his works, including “The Hunt for Red October” and “The Sum of All Fears,” were turned into blockbuster movies.

Outside of his writing, Clancy was a supporter of the Republican Party and became a lifetime member of the National Riffle Associate in 1978.

    Kitten.

I poked a lot of fun at his later stuff, but he sure did provide a younger me with many, many hours of enjoyment.
    Books. Bikes. Boomsticks.

I can explain it to you. I can’t understand it for you.

I wasn't much into the Net Force stuff or the collaboration stuff either. I always enjoyed his solo books, although I hated how they were bastardized for film, but what else is new there.

Maybe it's time to go back and re-read my collection.

    RIP Mr. Clancy.

    RIP Mr Clancy
In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.” ― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man

Sad, I thoroughly enjoyed his earlier books. They did start to get a little formulaic eventually, but even still, they were good fun. Didn't realize he was so young either. I'd always thought he was in his 50s or 60s when he wrote his first books.

I have to admit, this was funny.

I will miss Clancy, he was one of my favorite authors (when he actually wrote the books, that is)
