    2000 round challenge report.

    Pistol: Beretta Bobcat Inox .22LR

    Caliber: .22LR

    Ammunition: CCI 40 grain FMJ
Aguila 40 grain FMJ (frequent problems)
    Remington Golden Bullet (won’t run)

    Dates of testing: 3/2019

    Total rounds fired: 2020

Stoppages: With original magazine (1220 rounds):

    Remington Golden Bullet:
    Constant FTF hit feedramp.

    CCI Minimag:
    3 FTE
16 Failures to feed, various sorts.
    3 Stovepipe,
    3 Unlit primers.

    Aguila 40 grain:
    18 FTF various sorts
    4 stovepipe
    4FTE
    Total: 51/1220 4.2% or 95.8% reliable.

With new mag using CCI Minimags only (800 rounds):
    6 FTF short stroke.
    3 FTF hit above chamber
    2 FTE
    6 Unlit primers
    Total: 17/800 2.1% or 97.9% reliable.

    Malfunctions: 0

    Breakages: 0

This was not a classic 2000 in that I knew I would need to keep this gun clean and lubricated. It was cleaned every 200 rounds or so. And it requires it to keep running.

The original magazine had an issue and rounds dragged in it when loaded over 5 rounds to magazine. Beretta replaced it and problems improved, but did not go away completely.

    Stoppages came in several flavors:

-Unlit primers. This was seemingly random and occurred mostly with Minimags and on both DA and SA trigger pulls. These are super annoying to clear as you have to bash the round back with a small stick and are putting it down the chamber with a live round. No bueno.

-FTE: typically a result of chamber fouling. Improved to almost non existent as I learned better how to keep the chamber clean and became more meticulous about it.

-Short strokes. Gun fires, round not moved in magazine. I am hoping this can improve with hyper velocity ammunition. Again sort of random and I blame ammo.

    -Stovepipes: dirty gun, Aguila ammo

-Feedramp stoppages: kinda random. Can hit feedramp above the chamber.

    Pros:
-Shoots great. Accurate, with minimal recoil and decent trigger
-Extremely safe for admin handling, and loading.
    Light weight and small.

    Cons:
-You might not get a second shot. 98% chance you will though.
    -Requires frequent cleaning and lubrication.
    -Ammunition sensitive.

    Conclusion: range toy.

I’d love to call this thing a total dog, but I really enjoyed shooting it with the 9/6lb trigger and perfect ergonomics. It is more reliable than any Glock Conversion I have tried.

My experience with the Beretta Inox Bobcat .22LR mirrors yours almost exactly. I’ve run about 250 rounds of the CCI Stinger hypervelocity rounds and with those have experienced no FTEs or short-stroking so far, so I encourage you to try those as well.

I am new and a bit confused.
During the Challenge, you guys list FTF or FTE, but end up listing "0" malfunctions. Are FTF and FTE malfunctions?

This is just a great gun and reminded me why I like Glocks so much. This one completely stock. All the stoppages were shit ammo. Good to go in my book. No drama. Very pleasant to shoot.

Comments: Initial round count ~5k on gun, 3k on Romeo1. Original optic was returned for eating batteries. Current optic has required a couple adjustments but none during this run. Trigger developed a 1-1.5lb "spongy resistance" toward the end but was otherwise smooth.

    constant auto forwards.

    Dates of testing: 4/2019

    Total rounds fired: 2145

Stoppages: 1 : 147 grain flat nose round stuck on feed ramp during auto forward.

    Malfunctions: 0

    Breakages: 0

The VP9 had a great run with a huge variety of ammunition. The only stoppage was a strange one, around 1800 rounds in, I did an anemic reload and the slide auto forwarded, catching the flat 147 grain FMJ round on the dirty feed ramp. Solved with a tap rack easily. Were the gun not dirty, the ammo 147, or my reload more or less aggressive, I doubt it would have happened.

About my only beef with the gun is that is constantly autoforwards on reloads, (as do the P30 HKs). Is it a feature or bug? I definitely got used to it and was slow on the slide release when it didn’t happen.

Otherwise it is an incredible shooting gun that I highly recommend for Glock phobic people. I shot it consistently near my highest level of performance, and what more can you want? There is absolutely no blaming the gun for your failures with this one.

The striker drop issue: well, I don’t think it is an issue. Yes, I can make the striker drop at will in this gun, but it requires grabbing the muzzle and hammering the grip down on a hard surface. I also dropped the bejeebers out of the thing from 6 feet high on to stall mats and I could never get the striker to fall even once in a drop. It mentally annoys me that it can happen, but I just don’t think it would happen in any real world conditions.

I've had some very tightly fitted carbon steel 1911s that required lube (slide action became sluggish) before 150 rounds. I'd imagine a tightly fitted stainless 1911 would need lube before that.

If you're a shooter, the super tight ones are a PITA. If you're a gun fondler, you'll like them.
Don’t blame me. I didn’t vote for that dumb bastard.
