Is it possible to convert the safety system of a USP over to a P-8 style safety? On the P-8 the safety is orientated as; up is Fire, down is Safe, way down is de-cock.

Why would you even want to do that? It makes no sense.
It amazes me how the Europeans are so adept an designing handguns and yet so inept in the practical employment of them.
I was always under the impression that the P8 was just a standard USP. Maybe the Germans wanted the gun to have a similar safety to the old P38?
Purely an academic question. I had an opportunity to shoot with the German Army today for a Schützenschnur badge. Part of the course of fire was with the P-8. This was the first time I had shot an HK configured that way. I know that P-8's are not available in the US. I just wondered if a USP could be converted.
Would you not have to just acquire a P8 detent plate? That's what controls the function of the lever. After my non-successful lem experiment I replaced the variant 1 detent plate with a 5,6,9 to "safety only no de-cock" due to riding the safety and in recoil de-cocking the gun.
IIRC, the P-8's also have conventional rifling in their barrels.
