RAF Typhoon jets scrambled to a Pakistan aircraft carrying 297 passengers...

Dunno if this is news news...yet.

    It's developing:

The aircraft has now landed, police have confirmed.

An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "An incident has occurred on an aircraft. Police and partners are responding."

"Typhoon aircraft from RAF Coningsby have been launched to investigate an incident involving an aircraft in UK airspace," an MoD spokesman said.

Sky correspondent Alastair Bunkall said: "It is potentially precautionary, it doesn't necessarily mean there is a direct or real threat. Sometimes this might happen simply because of an incident on board involving a single passenger.

Apparently they've arrested a couple of chaps for attempting to damage the plane.

I wonder what their motivation was...

An update from the previous link:

A witness speaking in Urdu to Pakistani station Geo TV, said that two men over 6 feet tall tried to enter the pilot's cabin.

Other witnesses say the pair made a number of threats.

Essex Police have confirmed that two men aged 30 and 41 have been arrested on suspicion of endangerment of an aircraft after the plane landed safely at Stansted.

    No doubt Tony Blair's fault.

I'm sure someone'll try to find a way to blame Maggie Thatcher for it.
