I have been on a rum kick lately, and this fit the bill:
The Glendronach 12 is my new standard drinking bottle. I preferred the medicinal peated varieties for awhile, but my palate prefers the subdued sweetness of the sherry finished ones as of late. This one is very gentle on the nose and palate, surprisingly oaky, with just bit of of tobacco sharpness on the finish, almost like chewing on a cigar.
It came as a gift and ended up changing my whole taste in scotch.

Suntory has blended whiskey called Toki, that around here sells thirty dollars. I picked up a bottle but have not tried it yet.
ETA: <thread drift> While doing the search for the above link, I noticed that Suntory has other products such as soft drinks, etc. and did a search on Amazon to see what was available and along with the coffees, teas, and such there were some other curious offerings. Apparently Hibiki has other meanings in Japan. NSFW

I was at a guys dinner last night, and hidden among the liquor bottles was a 1/4 full bottle of Balvenie 14. Bizarrely, everyone was drinking blended whiskey on the rocks and going on about “smooth” and so on. I kept politely passing on Eagle Rare and the like, and ended up polishing off the single malt with literally no competition.
