the thing that stuck out the most to me though was... "the father's first time shooting the gun."
the sad/scary part is, I bet that's far too common a truth.
edit: another thing this made me realize... I only have 1 mag for each of my firearms loaded at all times with defensive ammo, and they're split amongst 2 storage locations. I think I should change that to at least a 2 mag minimum (one always in the firearm, other sitting next to it.)
