I recently read Heat 2. With the proper cast it can be a worthy successor. The book is quite good.

I read it last week. I enjoyed it, it read fast for almost 400 pages. I agree, with the right cast (rumor is Adam Driver as Neil) it could be very good. Some good gunfight material to build from and make better in movie form.
