    +1

And we can include a shot timer connected to the trigger.

I found that some of the timer apps for Android are inconsistent in their timing accuracy of the beeps when measured against a stopwatch (i.e. you sent for 1.5 sec, the length between beeps could be anywhere from .75-2 sec.)
Same here - I just use the par time function. The surefire shot timer on my iphone isn't terribly consistent so I stopped using it.

    It is called "live-fire"...

All kidding aside, I think the purpose behind par-time training is to push you rather than to give feedback... Unless you find the IPSC video game

This is great - thanks for the link

I use a Competition Electronics Pro Timer (AKA Timersaurus) set on Par Time for dry fire practice. Works fine and does everything I need it to do.

Sorry if this is reanimating the dead, but is this still the prevailing wisdom on shot timers for dry fire, this number of years later, ie use one with a par time function and call it good? I’m reading as many dry fire threads here as I can.

I literally just received this book yesterday, thanks to good advice in this forum.

I just read the part where he was like, get a timer so I was trying to figure out the best way to go.

The timer is to set drill par times. I suppose, if the timer is capable of beeping at set intervals, that you could use it to practice shooting to a cadence.

But 99.99999% of the use for a timer during dryfire is to signal the start and end of par time.
