Both Senator Majority Leader John Morse and Senator Angela Giron have had recall petitions succeed against them. Enough votes were counted that will now take them both into the recall process. What this means is that both have 2 options - 1) Be forced to resign, or 2) Refuse to resign and enter a special recall election where the district will vote on whether or not to keep them out of office.
If they resign, they can both be replaced by Democrats, but for them, it is still a lose-lose. Either resign and be completely discraced, or refuse and then be recalled and be completelyX2 disgraced
Regarding the 'North Colorado' idea, we were talking about that this past weekend. It would have an uphill battle, but people out here are serious. There have been some that just roll the eyes, but I think a lot of these politicians underestimated Colorado citizens. Colorado is not New York. People like their freedom out here and are pretty pissed about the whole debacle. It's going to get a lot worse come July 1, when the magazine ban officially goes into effect, because people won't just be hearing it anymore - they'll be feeling it.
I received an special email from AIM Surplus for CO residents that announced come June 15, they will no longer ship high (standard) capacity magazines to Colorado.
The real pisser about all this is that its not like any of the pro-gun control politicians out here even cared. Some of them even admitted they knew it wouldn't do anything, as if to almost insinuate that they were initiating and voting upon these measures simply because they could and really just had nothing else better to do. None of them really had a rational debate (not that they were interested in that either)...it was all decided from the beginning, even before the committee hearings. If there was an amendment to the bills that for every firearm transfer or magazine grandfathered in a kitten would be tossed off a cliff, they still would have voted for the bills, either because they had their vote in it from the beginning, or they didn't even know what was in the bill (as was the case with HB-1224 and Rep Rhonda Fields, a CO-SPONSOR OF THE BILL who didn't even know about the removable baseplate stipulation in the language).
I am completely astounded at the gross incompetence. Thank goodness for the Independence Institute and the 55 sheriffs. We'll get these completely worthless suckage-ness of bills repealed.
