That new Seiko 5 GMT looks great and seems to be a bargain for that price.

But if you are just dipping your toe into the world of automatic GMT watches, the Seiko 5 would be a great start.

    YMMV Greatly

I want to love this new auto seiko GMT badly. I simply wish that they charged 499.99 v 475 an used a sapphire crystal. I am sure their counter would be that you are getting the overall quality/heritage etc of an auto GMT @ 475 such that that was a place to draw the line with using their proprietary Hardlex. I would note that there any number of NON GMT micro brand diver autos that use sapphire for less than 475. A bit of an apples to orange comparison I acknowledge.

RE an Auto GMT- This one if as advertised is quite a value. Hamilton/Swiss movement/Sapphire/from an AD/455 ish shipped.

Great point VCD, about the value of a sapphire crystal. All non-disposable watches should have them.

I love my old Orient Mako diver and paid just over $100 for it on sale many years ago. But I had to sink more than that to replace the mineral crystal when it got scratched. I replaced it with an aftermarket sapphire crystal. I would have rather paid an extra $50 up front for a sapphire crystal in the first place.

The diver style combined with the 100m of water resistance and lack of screw-down crown throw me off.

Sad day today. I haven’t worn this watch in two weeks and just noticed the insert is missing. Only worn the watch in total 2 times since I received it.

Rather than the above, if one can find the H76755135 version of the Hamilton Khaki Aviation GMT, I think it’s a much better watch. They put the ETA 2893-2 movement in the Omega Seamaster 44 mm case. And I think it all around looks better. It’s my daily driver. I haven’t looked around at prices, but not many better watches for under a bill.

Nice specs, in house COSC movement and tool less micro adjust for the same price as my Black Bay 36. Probably too large for my wrist but I'd like to try it out at my AD.
