I concur re the look/functionality of the watch.

Where Seiko can do better IMHO is that they are still using their proprietary "Hardlex" crystal at price point where the vast majority of the market ( to include microbrands) are using a much more scratch resistant sapphire crystal.
Don't sleep on Hardlex. It's *nearly* as scratch resistant as sapphire, and much much more shatter resistant than sapphire. Best of both worlds in some ways, for a work beater watch

Agreed. I have on OG Monster modded with a sapphire crystal and a couple Seikos that are still rocking Hardlex (another gen 1 Monster and an SKX173). In hindsight, I would not bother with sapphire on "beater" watch that already has Hardlex, nor would I let Hardlex deter me from buying a watch. Hardlex is fine. I have managed to scratch Hardlex, though I'm not sure sapphire would have survived the blow that scratch it.

My Seiko's have been as scratch free as my sapphire crystals. The only watch I've ever scratched has been an old Fossil, but it's a Fossil.

    Eterna on black Perlon today.
So far after 3 days it's only gained 0.3 seconds for a average of +0.1 seconds per day.

So, I bought a $50 Timex a few weeks ago as a beater watch. The most strenuous thing I’ve done with it was mow the lawn on my tractor, weed whack, or go take a class and put like 750 rounds of 9mm down range. This past weekend I ran around the yard and weed whacked a bit. I came back inside and found my watch was missing something.

This is my second Timex purchase of two in recent years that have completely and totally failed me. I won’t be buying another Timex any time soon.

I had an Iron Man for a while until it cracked around the band. Went back to Casio.

I am huge fan of this watch in the sub 50.00 space. You can get a slew of nato straps and coordinate with any color under the sun if that is your fancy as well.

I was actually very tempted by that one as it fits the price point and definitely looks nice for a cheap beater. I, however, decided to go with a truly cheap and very replaceable Casio W-218H in OD Green. I’ll measure the lug width (everyone seems to say 18mm) and pick up a couple NATOs and drive on for now.

My <$50 watches are Casio or Seiko.

Somewhat off topic, but my wife wants to sell her Omega Deville. What is the best place to post a watch for sale? I would prefer to avoid EBay if there are better options.
