I’m not a buyer for either of these pieces but I was happy to check them out. The Speedy in Moonshine gold was something special, way cooler than a DayDate IMO. The new two tone GMT Master II was stunning in person.

Late post from Christmas with a little backstory. My love of watches has rubbed off on my 6 year old. He's had a few kids watches for a couple years and I got him his own watchbox last year because he wanted one like mine. As a little boy who also loves space and rocket ships, he was amazed when I told him that astronauts actually wore an Omega kinda like daddy's ( I have 2 Omega's, but not a Speedy, yet) to the Moon. He became a little obsessed with what he calls a "space watch". When his kindergarten class wrote letters to Santa at school, the only thing he asked for was a space watch. I had been thinking about getting him a Moonswatch for Christmas, the problem was the hype drove up secondary pricing and I live nowhere near a Swatch boutique. An incredibly kind and generous member of our forum reached out and offered to get one for me from his local boutique. He was kind enough to also include an autographed picture of an astronaut wearing a Speedy, which my son now has framed on his wall. He's been wearing it a lot and has been great about putting it back in his watchbox when he takes it off. Included are a couple pics of a very happy 6 year old. I want to say thank you to @theJanitor for your kindness and generosity in making my boys Christmas extra special. I hope to make it to the island one day and share a drink with you.

This is the best. We can only hope our kids share our passions.

We went on holiday to Japan at the end of November. I used to make my son wear an apple watch when there's a chance we get separated, but he wore his MoonSwatch this go 'round.

Of course I brought a real one with me

Family in the hospital recently (Kidney stone complications and a few surgeries)... anyway I visited and noticed a nurse rocking a Rolex Submariner Date. Of course I had to say something.

I just said "Is that a Rolex?" while she changed the 1st bed in a 2 bed room. She instantly beamed and asked me how I noticed. I told her I like watches, and the sub is iconic. She was in her late 40s and it was clearly a point of pride for her. I mentioned wanting one, but that the price has gotten out of reach for me. She said that she waited for 2 years on a waitlist, and when she got the call she had 24 hours to let the dealer know before purchase. It cost her around $8,500 and she got it back in 2019, unworn. She was definitely still excited about it. When we talked more, she said that it was the 40mm date model. She got it at a dealer where I've been and tried one on. She plans to give it to her daughter when she gets her first house. Obviously a major purchase for her, and she was excited to pass it on as much as she was to wear it and talk to me about it.

Considering my the guy she was changing the bed for had an impacted bowel which was slowly getting moving... I was surprised she wears it at work. Then again, a tool is a tool.

Afterwards my parents balked that someone would spend so much money on a watch. I told them that the way our family places an emotional sentiment to firearms as heirlooms, many other families do the same with watches. They hadn't really heard of that. But, I grew up in the woods and we weren't rich. Mom and Dad came up about the same. They could obviously see how proud the nurse was, and I think it made an impression.

I saw a guy wearing one of these when I was out for a meal. It looked so good on the wrist, I did some research and found one for myself!
