I picked up this Seiko many many years ago, around late 1972. I was in love with the unreal bright yellow dial! I remember choosing between that color and the blue dial version- I should have bought both...
Over the years I would wear it here and there, storing it in my sock drawer when not in use. I'm amazed at how well the dial and the inner indicator ring have kept all these years. I recently had a local Seiko service shop clean and oil and perform routine maintenance on the piece. Runs like a charm. The watch is still wearing the original bracelet, although the end links are replacements from Uncle Seiko https://www.uncleseiko.com
Here's a bit of history, and good reading on the Seiko 6139 https://thespringbar.com/blogs/guide...lectors-guide/
And, sorry for the crappy pic, the dial is much more vibrant than shown..

My Auntie donated Uncle's Explorer to Goodwill because he didn't wear it and "it was broken" i.e. it would only run for a few seconds when she shook it. It never made it into the store. They had an "extensive conversation about it."

It's pretty, but a piece of junk. My phone's camera shows it's lack of color resolution as the rose gold really pops in "real life".

I’m seeing $590 for the GMT. Is there a code to get to 550?
