My solar Seiko is still going strong after 7+ years. I changed the band a few times...
When it's off my wrist, it hangs out on the window ledge in the master bath, catching rays.
Only paid Amazon $95 for it in 2016... Not available on Amazon currently and pricier elsewhere...

Just a +1 on the recommendation to consider some current Seiko options..

Medium size watch, this is my pick: Seiko SKX007

Mechanical. Nice quality. Proven design with a following and aftermarket.
I’ve been wearing Seiko Samurai lately as my tool watch. I like the weight and size better.

Its an automatic so youd have to keep an eye on the time difference. They run either a little slow or a little fast so over time youd have to reset. Mine runs about 10 seconds a day fast. When I notice its a few min fast I just roll it back a little bit
If you dont want to deal with that Citizen makes a lot of solar quartz Eco-Drive

Been eyeing that one for some time. I like tool watches with Arabic numerals and day/dates.
I have a Gshock 5600. The basic square digital one. I actually find it more annoying to change the daylight savings time on it twice a year than to spin the crown on an analog watch for the 7 times.
You can go upscale a bit within the Citizen lineup and never worry about setting the date again. Check out the older Promaster PMT56 or the current Promaster Land PMD56 Hard Coated Titanium, sapphire, radio controlled Ecodrive with 200m water resistance and a perpetual calendar - lots to like. I had the older PMT56 (date only- no day.) My wife quickly claimed it for herself!
I have this one except with a black dial. No date changes until long after I'm gone.

I'm a Seikoholic but this Eco-Drive is awfully nice not having to do anything at all to it. Since I'm digging the Eco-Drive so much, this solar model from Seiko is tempting me very very much.
