Thread: 10-8 rear sight??

    10-8 rear sight??

thinking about the U notch 10-8 rear sight for m&p9c. heard great things about rapid sight acquisition for fairly close range shooting, but also heard that they don't favor well with precision shooting past 25-30 yards. of course my primary goal is for shooting under 30 yards but i have done some shooting out to 75 yds. with my m&p and would like to be able to continue this with this sight as well if possible. can anyone comment on this???? thanks

    10*8 rear

I have them on all my Glocks now.
During a Mike Panone class this past weekend, was able to make 50 yd shots on an A-zone steel plate with the G17 (dawson FO frontsite & 10-8 rear).
I prefer the U-notch rear over the others tried in the past (heinie, dawson adj.).

The pronounced ledge makes single hand slide racks much easier than those as well.

I'm not a huge fan. The notch tends to be too narrow for some applications and the "u" doesn't really answer the call as well as the rounded-corner square notches on Warren and Ameriglo i-Dot sights.

I have one on my Sig 1911 Tac Ops, I actually like it quite a bit. I have the widest notch possible, the .156 specifically because the front sight on my Sig is the same width as a Dodge Charger.

In practical tests, I'm able to get faster hits on a 25 yard target using the 10-8 sight on my Sig than I am using the Novak sights on my Colt.

I got the chance to check out the Ameriglo I-dots the other day. I liked them a lot. I would really like them with a plain black rear.

I have a wide notch U 10-8 on my Ed Brown and love it. I don't feel I lose any precision with it. In fact I fared well on the walk back drill in LAV's 1911 class last summer.

I put a set of 10-8s on my carry and competition G19. I then I heard about Ameriglo Defoors and bought a set for my spare G17. Now the Defoors are on my main gun and the 10-8s are on the spare.

I don't thing that the U notch is as important as having a good narrow front sight and a wide rear notch. To me, that gives me the speed and accuracy, not the bottoms of the notch. The price of Ameriglos is great, too.
