Date: 21 Aug 2015
Gun: Miller Custom 1911
Ammo: .45 ACP, 230g FMJ Reloads
- 1" dots at 3 yards, 3 rounds from the ready (x25)
Focus is on recoil management and trigger press
- Draw and fire 6 rounds at 7 yards to USPSA target (Bill Drill) (x15)
This was going really well minus the draw. Splits were between .17-.21 all day.
Draw was slow at around 1.50 consistently with the fastest for the day being only a 1.35. Not too terribly pleased with the draw or overall times, but hits and splits were there. Check out the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjlXJD0-q-0
- USPSA Classifier CM 99-23
String 1: Facing up range with hands relaxed at sides, turn and draw, firing 2 rounds to T1-T3
String 2: Facing down range with hands above shoulders, draw and fire 2 rounds T1-T3
Hit Factor goal was a 13, which I did not even come close too. I had never shot this classifier before, but I have shot many turn and draws like El Presidente so I figured this shouldn't be too terrible...WRONG!!! I fired ZERO clean runs on this, even when slowing down to shoot clean. Splits and transitions were horrible compared to where I was before summer. My first run, and subsequently my best run, was a 3.34 -1C on S1, and a 2.84 -2C on S2. Overall was a 6.18 -3C, for a Hit Factor of 9.22. It got so bad towards the end to where even dry firing and shooting slow produced worse and worse results. Sometimes you need to just put the gun down and walk away. And that's what I did. Obviously I'm trying to shoot as fast as I could 3 months ago at the peak of my year, which is the wrong answer. Need to dial my self back and get back to basics.
