My 2013 V6 Taco will probably pass 175K this week. I don’t remember what was put in at the last oil change, should I be looking at going with a heavier weight synthetic, a high mileage or both?
I had a friend in the late-90s who was manager of the local auto parts store. He was a Mopar guy and one of his favorite sayings was “God love GM engineers, because I don’t have to!”🤣
Back in my wrenching days, I wasn't super fond of the Big 3. But if I was to rank them, I'd put GM on the top, with Ford a distant second and Chrysler on the rock bottom.
You might have to change lots of things out on a GM, but you could usually get to them without having to disassemble half the vehicle to get there.
Most of my creative oathmaking & tool launchings came when trying to get to something that should be easy to change, but was in the worst possible location in a Chrysler product.
Of course, this was a while back, and I'm sure that they've all managed to up the derp quotient since then.

To be fair, in south Texas, "winter" is not a consideration.
This thread has me wondering if the "factory recommended weight" is for engine protection/longevity or to hit EPA numbers.
Even changing a damn headlamp bulb requires moderated to major disassembly.
