So, it’s got a slightly longer barrel vs. a P-01 / PCR (I think). Other than that, is it pretty much a P-01 aside from some slicked-up action parts? Or does the Shadow 2 platform have more substantive mechanical differences from the more plebeian CZ 75 iterations?

S2 Carry has an ambi decocker. I've heard that an ambi lever can be massaged onto a PCR, and I've heard it cannot. I haven't seen it done, but it's been years since I looked.

I shot one today at a demo day, just one magazine but I thoroughly like it more than the S2 compact. I will know be looking to pick one up for myself.

I don't have either one so if I am buying I shot the carry better for some reason. I don't like a light trigger and the compact has it or it felt like it did. I am a novice so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

How bad is that beaver tail gonna jab in appendix?

Based on my previous experience with the P01, not much. However, I didn't like it anyway because it was in my thumb's way when I wanted to trap the hammer while holstering the gun. I could make it work but it was less natural and convenient than with classic SIGs or HKs. Not a fan.
