I see nobody linked the CZ's own page. It has a cool graphic for the firing pin block.

From the perspective of someone who would carry it, is the primary attraction to this over a P-09 Compact the additional weight of the aluminum frame?

The new S2 Carry is 4 Oz heavier, but a bigger difference is that the S2 has a traditional CZ75 action whereas the P07/09 uses a newer, simplified Omega action. The CZ75 action lends itself to a smoother, lighter, more refined trigger--especially in DA. And the 3-lug barrel lockup and barrel bushing should in theory be more accurate.

So, it’s got a slightly longer barrel vs. a P-01 / PCR (I think). Other than that, is it pretty much a P-01 aside from some slicked-up action parts? Or does the Shadow 2 platform have more substantive mechanical differences from the more plebeian CZ 75 iterations?

The grip shape of the Shadow2 is subtly but significantly different, in a good way IMO. Barrel/slide lockup is tighter, and the slide itself much better made. S2 vs. SP-01 is a fairly stark contrast.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up.

Makes sense. And I want one. Though I have been digging my P-01 lately.
