That was a great money saver, wasn’t it? We used to snare beer money from the solo unmanned toll on IL 5 at Midwest Road using a washcloth in the basket. There was a handy nearby tree you could sit under while your bank filled.

I've seen that quite a bit down here in Alabama from some of the transplants . . . though I can't imagine why someone would want to leave some of the out of state plates I've seen on the front of vehicles down here for a nanosecond longer than I had to. A NY or OR plate on your vehicle is not going to endear you to the locals, even if Huntsville is the Austin of Alabama it's still the south.

Popular here as well. Usually with a license plate like Montana or similar. As if to say, when we're not here in NC, we're over there.

I keep an American flag plate where a front plate would otherwise go if required.

I never thought of it that way when I see folks doing it...but I guess that could be a logical conclusion I hadn't considered.

I'll just keep old glory up there on mine, as I have since 2001 on my vehicles.

    +1 on the Flag.

Where we’re at, doing the native plate thing basically says “We’re better than you and you should feel grateful we brought our money here.” Try the same shit in Northern Wisconsin and you’ll have flat tires AND a ticket for improper plates. lol.
