We have two healthy Labs, and we still have at least one ER visit per dog each year. It's worth the cost to us. We have Nationwide because they bought the original company. We've never had a problem with a claim.

I have insurance through Pets Best.

We lost our first German Shepherd to kidney disease when she was 3 years old. We spent a few thousand on diagnosis and treatment during that time. There wasn't anything else we could have done for her, but it made us realize that we didn't ever want to be put in a position where we had to say no to a treatment just for financial reasons so we decided to get insurance with our next German Shepherd pup.

Pets best had very positive reviews when we were looking into different options and had the best rates for our specific dog so we went that route. We hadn't made a claim until last year when she needed a full hip replacement. The total cost for all of the necessary visits and procedure was close to $15,000 and I'm very glad we had the insurance since we didn't have to worry about anything other than what was best for her.

The claims process with Pets Best was extremely simple and relatively quick.

German Shepherds are one of the more expensive breeds to cover, and Stella just turned 8 last week, so her premiums are getting pretty expensive. I think I've more than got my money's worth though, and I'll keep the insurance active until we get to a point where she's old enough that we'd no longer consider putting her through a major procedure if something else where to go wrong.
