The heavyweight champ passed away yesterday at the age of 76. Olympic heavyweight champ in '68. A not-perfect, but good man.

Nice video with Foreman, Ali and Frazier (from october 1989):
Also on bbc.com (in better quality).
Hard to believe he's gone. R.I.P.

I was a fan of George Foreman the boxer, salesman, and dude.
I still remember that Howard Cosell "down goes Frazier, down goes Frazier."
Same. Frazier and Ali both were at the top of the list of my childhood heroes, and I had hoped Ali-Frazier I in 1971 would be a draw so they both could still be undefeated. I was 10 for Frazier-Foreman in Jamaica, and it was one of the bigger shocks of my childhood to see Frazier rocked like that. Seemed like a disturbance in the natural order of things.
Foreman was a great fighter and a good man. This is very sad news, seems like it came 10 years too soon.
Damnit. I liked him. RIP.

He was one scary mofo before he became a TV teddy bear.

We’ve got some sort of grill with his name on it around here; maybe I’ll dig it out and do up some steaks in his honor tonight.
Civility is not a tactic or a sentiment. It is the determined choice of trust over cynicism, of community over chaos.
