Smart guy that FTU commander. Having to deal with multiple calibers, magazines, and operating systems is a pain in the cuff case when done for actual or perceived operational needs. Having to get specific colors to specific units would definitely bringing bourbon to staff meetings.
The Bureau people I've interacted with most have been firearms instructors and/or SWAT agents. Like other contributors, I've been impressed with their professionalism.
The only example of "FBI arrogance" my former agency experienced occurred when an agent at the range asked what we were carrying. The firearms training coordinator proudly told the agent that we carried the FNS-9. He was offended when the agent asked what that pistol did for us that a Glock didn't do. While the coordinator thought this "FBI arrogance", I thought it was an excellent question.
Perhaps just as well I wasn't there. My response would have been to tell the agent that the FNS-9 taught us how to clear malfunctions, see in the dark since pistol-mounted lights induced malfunctions, and make first shot hits since the magazine might not be seated in the weapon.
Thanks for the responses, guys/
